• A new month. A new traffic jam.

  • I captured an image almost immediately upon waking this morning. My brain presumably now programmed to generate daily images.

The daylight coming through the bedroom curtains…

…reminding me that I need to put the fan back in the attic, until next summer.

  • I’ve been gifted an inscribed book, which compels me to read it.

It’s the ‘Life, Old Age, and Death of a Working-Class Woman’, by Didier Eribon.

It failed to satisfy my bibliosmia, but hopefully it reads better.

  • Having barely moved from a screen all day, I’ve resorted to an image of the tools.

An uninspiring photograph, but an insightful one…

…creates plan to eradicate the dead skin cells.

Which reminds me of the first CD I ever bought: ‘Lifeforms’, by The Future Sound of London.

  • A couple of hours spent in the garden, getting it ready for winter. A statement my past self never anticipated writing.

My hands smell good after pruning the lavender.

  • Driving most of the day, returning from ‘The North’. Constrained to a nothing shot during a coffee refueling stop.

What constitutes a photograph? The technical choices: framing the white line to bisect the corners? The creative choices: forcing the viewer to mentally complete the narrative?

    The coffee was good.

  • A local heron occasionally visits our garden. It’s easily disturbed, and challenging to photograph with a phone, especially at a distance.

It’s on occasions like this that I sometimes lust after a dedicated camera with a behemoth lens.

  • The sun shining through a window shutter and reflecting on the hallway wall at home.

I don’t recall seeing this before, which is strange, given how prominent it is.

Maybe because I woke up looking for an image to start this project.
